The Machame Route is one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, and for good reason. It offers stunning views, a reasonable challenge, and plenty of time to acclimate, making it a great choice for those who have a bit of extra time in their schedule.
The route starts at Machame Gate on the south-west side of the mountain and ascends through a variety of different ecosystems, from the lush rainforest to the snow-capped summit. Along the way, you'll pass by some of Kilimanjaro's most iconic landmarks, including the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, and Barafu Camp.
The Machame Route is a six- or seven-day hike, and it's important to be in good physical condition before you attempt it. However, even if you're not a seasoned hiker, you can still enjoy this challenging and rewarding climb.
